Support Through Court announced as British Family Law Awards Charity Partner

The British Family Law Awards is delighted to announce that Support Through Court will be the Charity Partner for the forthcoming ceremony in January 2024.

Launched earlier this year the British Family Law Awards will recognise and celebrate excellence across the family law community. Chambers and family firms from across England and Wales are encouraged to enter up to 3 of the 15 categories, all with carefully curated criteria, designed to showcase the incredible work of practitioners who work tirelessly to promote and provide access to justice for so many.

Support Through Court is a charity dedicated to providing free, independent assistance to people facing proceedings without legal representation. As a charity, they are wholly reliant on gifts and donations to find their work; £35 supports a person going through court and £300 runs one of their services for one day.

The Charity Partnership will see attendees given the option to donate a portion of the cost of the ticket to Support Through Court.

The awards are hosted by Today’s Media, the publishers of the up-and-coming online news publication Today’s Family Lawyer, a wholly independent publisher of news, industry sentiment, opinions and case reviews for family practitioners.

Each submission is scrutinised by a panel of expert judges drawn from across the legal services spectrum who score the entry. The top scoring firms in each category are recognised and announced live on the night at The British Family Law Awards in Bristol on Thursday 25th January 2024.

Alongside “traditional” awards categories, The British Family Law Awards introduces a number of other important categories for chambers, firms and organisations who champion innovation; demonstrate excellence in client care; and practice what they preach when it comes to staff wellbeing.

Commenting on the launch of the British Family Law Awards, David Opie, Managing Director of Today’s Media, said

“One of the defining characteristics of Today’s Family Lawyer is our ambition to recognise the work of family practitioners up and down the country. Through the publication we report on and at times narrate the stories of professionals from around the sector.

From sole practitioners and the high street through to national firms family law plays an important role in our society and through these awards we want to celebrate that work, and recognise the individuals and organisations who contribute so passionately.

Ali Evans, Corporate Partnerships Manager for Support Through Court added,

"We’re delighted to have been chosen as the charity partner at the British Family Law Awards. The money raised at the event will go a huge way to supporting our clients across England and Wales. Of the almost 60,000 occasions we supported on last year, 60% of cases were family cases, and it will be wonderful to share an evening with supporters and members of the family law community."
