Raise a Cup for Justice

Join Support Through Court in celebrating our first ever Support Through Court Week by Raising a Cup for Justice.

The past 12 months have been extremly tough on fundraising around the world with many events and challenges cancelled. Support Through Court has continued to provide the same great service to those facing court alone during these exceptional times. We need your help to make sure we can continue to providing invaluable support and advice to those in need.

By hosting a virtual tea party you can help make a difference to the lives of those facing court alone by providing them better access to justice.

Either set up a fundraising page of your own or share our existing campaign page and invite your friends and family to join you to Raise a Cup for Justice.

Hosting a Cup for Justice Tea Party

How to host a tea party virtually?

Set a date and choose how the party will go ahead. We recommend setting up a Zoom, Skype, Houseparty or Facetime call.

Invite some friends and share the details of your party. Remember everyone should have their own cake. Or if you are able to deliver a slice of cake to your guests.

How can I raise money through my virtual tea party?

We suggest starting by setting up a Virgin Money Giving page and sharing it with your guests. It is also a great opportunity to provide more information about the great work Support Through Court do.

You could then charge guests on the (virtual) door by asking them to add a donation to your Virgin Money Giving page before you enjoy a cuppa together and all donations will be sent directly to Support Through Court.

Extra activities to make your cup of justice stand out can include:

  • A fun quiz
  • A raffle (just ask some local businesses to donate the prizes)
  • A live-streamed bake-a-long, or baking lesson.
  • Auction off some home-baked goods (to be delivered when it's safe)

Tips to promote your event

Social Media

Advertise your event on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. Remember to put all of the key details – date, time, venue, or zoom details(if a virtual event) and whom to contact.

Use #cupofjustice when sharing pictures of your event, we love to see and share the amazing cakes and tea parties.

Posters

Look for other ways to raise awareness of your event – put up posters (included in the pack), look for local newsletters it can be mentioned in. If you’re hosting at work, send an email round to your colleagues, put up posters on your office notice boards, decorate the office so everyone knows it’s coming.

Know a local celeb, MP or Judge?

Invite them along and make sure to include them in any photography on the day, as well as your social media activity and post-event press release (with their permission of course!)

Local Media

Send a pre-event press release to your local newspaper and radio station, to promote the event. We can provide a press releasetemplate to help if needed email: events@supportthroughcourt.org

You can also do a follow-up press-release including the amount raised and. with some great photos of your event.
