Facing civil court without a lawyer in London?

At our Royal Courts of Justice office, we help with civil cases, including cases related to the Central London County Court. To access our services, you can book an appointment or come as a walk-in.

Operating hours

We offer in-person support on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10.00am to 4.00pm, with the office closed for lunch between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

In-person appointments: We primarily offer in-person support. If you are unable to find a suitable remote appointment, please contact our National Helpline or access our online service.

Walk-ins: Walk-ins are welcome throughout the day, subject to availability. Please note that clients with appointments will be prioritised.

Important information: Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee support to everyone who visits our office, and there may be occasions when we are unable to provide immediate assistance. If we have reached capacity, we reserve the right to turn people away, even if they arrive before closing time.

Please note that we are unable to provide extensive support by email. We can signpost you to relevant organisations or court contacts, explain the scope of our service and respond to brief, general enquiries.

If you require support at a hearing, please email us to make a request. For in-person hearings, we can only provide support at the following London locations:

Our phone line is open Monday to Friday, from 10.00am to 4.00pm, with the line closed for lunch between 12.30pm and 1.30pm provided that the office is open.

Please note that we cannot receive calls from withheld numbers, so ensure that your number is visible when calling.

If we miss your call, please do not call again. We will return your call as soon as possible. Calls are answered subject to our capacity and as far as we are able.

Our phone line is primarily for reception enquiries, such as appointment bookings. For remote support, please contact our National Helpline or access our online service.

You can find us in the main building, just down from the RCJ cafe.

Please be aware that all visitors must pass through airport-style security when entering the court building. We recommend allowing plenty of time for this and arriving 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment.
